Days 1 & 2 of Our Staycation

We used to go on a little vacation every year to a different state so my children could visit different places and mark off a new state that they've visited. Things are different now. Luckily, Alexander's 2 week break from marching band practice and performances was during my break, so we started our staycation after Alex's scout camp and before Elisa's girls' camp.

On Day 1 we went to Bountiful to stay in a hotel. First we visited the Bountiful temple in an impromptu stop, so in our regular clothes. I had only ever seen this temple from the freeway. Did you know it has underground parking in addition to the parking at the level of the temple? That was handy for such a very hot day! It's a pretty temple with a great view since it is waaaay up there.

Then we went to the hotel to check in and then off to eat at Arella Pizzeria. We had never been there, but that's what the kids voted for so we went. Very pretty interior.
With awesome lighting
And we liked the margherita pizza with tomatoes.
We wanted to try the zeppoles for dessert, but we were too full. So we went back to the hotel for swimming and then a silly movie in the room.

When we woke up on day 2, we got all shiny-faced with sunscreen and headed up to Lagoon (Utah's amusement park) for the day and into the night.
I had my camera, but since we went on roller coaster after roller coaster, where you can't carry a purse or camera, I left the camera in a rented locker the whole time. I only brought it out so Alex could take a photo of Sabrina and me on this ride-The Rocket. Yeah, I cropped my silly face out.
More about this ride in the next post. And yes, those are mismatched socks she's wearing. Her sister started doing it since her friends did and of course Sabrina wants to be like her big sister.

We went on all of the rides we wanted to at least twice (it's no Disneyland) and since it was overcast, it wasn't too hot and the lines weren't bad at all. By the end, Alexander and Elisa were begging to go home and I had to drag Sabrina away. So the first 2 days were lots of fun.

  3. Your staycation looks so fun! I think my kids have about as much fun when we just go places nearby. I'm hoping we'll get to Lagoon this summer. It's been a couple years. :)
