I have organized a bake sale, with the help of many ladies who are bringing their goodies, to raise money for one of my friends' baby Kamilla Rivera. Kamilla was born with Surfactant Protein C Deficiency, but the doctors didn't know what was wrong with her for more than a year. She has spent most of her life (around 18 months) in the hospital and needs a lung transplant. Her family moved with her down to Texas where they do the transplants. My friend has two other children as well and all of this has been difficult for the whole family.
I'm making Creamy Cocoa Cookies with Fat Fudge Frosting and Lemon Lime Baby Cakes with Lemon Lime as well as a new cookie recipe I just tried last night on some guinea pig friends who were over for dinner. They were a hit and I'll be posting that recipe soon. There are more than 20 other ladies bringing baked goods. My friends mother and father make the BEST empanadas from Argentina and they'll be selling them there as well as chorizos. So if you live anywhere close, you'll want to come!
But even if you don't live in Utah, you can get in on the fun. The nice guys on the BYU football team signed two footballs that we'll be auctioning off in a silent auction at the bake sale. Anyone can email me a bid before tomorrow at 10:00 am Mountain time and it will be accepted. I'll even mail it for free. One or both would make great Christmas presents!

Directions: Take I-15 to exit #258 toward Price/Manti
The exit turns into Hwy 6. Follow it up toward Spanish Fork Canyon (pretty close to the canyon) to the 4th light, which is at 2550 East. Turn right. We'll be on the right hand side, the first street on the right, across the street from the church building. The best parking would be on 2550 East.

ReplyDeleteIt's still a song we all remember. I really like spanish novella's they have an ending. Unlike here, they can last 100 years.
My daughter and I just saw the ad on Craig's list and we commented about the empanadas! We're having a garage sale,(my LEAST favorite thing to do) at the same time but we'll show up! Save some of your creamy cocoa cookies with fat fudge frosting for me! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAnd those empanadas are a little piece of Argentine heaven! I've tasted empanadas, but none that good! What a neat thing you're doing for your friend and her daughter. From the pictures of her, she looks like a cutie - plus ,I'm a little partial to the name :). I hope you had a great turnout - and thanks for including the recipe for the creamy cocoa cookies! We tried some and are now hooked! :)

Wish I wasn't SO behind on blog reading and your blog is alphabetically last in my file, so I have a hard time getting all the way to the end, BUT I always eventually read your blog--because I love it. And now I'm bummed to have missed your bake sale (not that I could have come from Kansas), but my husband would have loved the football(s).
